Getting around

Roles and permissions

There are two roles — administrator and employee. This is exactly which screens each one opens, which actions are gated inside a shared screen, and how an admin previews the employee view.

6 min readUpdated

Joey Cash has two roles: administrator and employee. There is no third, and no per-feature permission matrix to configure — an account is one or the other, and every gate in the app asks the same question.

What each role opens

  1. All fourteen workspaces, all tabs, all actions.

  2. An employee’s home grid simply has fewer tiles. Nothing is greyed out.

    Screen Employee
    Add Order Yes
    Quick Order Yes
Current Orders Yes, without the admin-only money columns
    Price List Yes
Count & Loss Yes — their assigned count session, or the loss-report flow
Administration Yes, renamed My Work: their own schedule, attendance, leave, payslip and tasks
Customers Yes, without profit, wallet movements, delete, merge, block and phone rekey
Shipping & Delivery The Delivery tab only — Shipping is administrator-only
    Dashboard No
    Inventory No
    Cash Registry No
    Resources No
    Suppliers & Workshops No
    Store Control No

What is administrator-only inside a shared screen

Screen Administrator-only
Current Orders Shipping cost, shipping profit and gross profit columns; bulk delete; deleting an order
Customers Profit KPI, column and CSV columns; wallet movements; delete; merge; block and unblock; changing a customer’s phone number
Count & Loss The count-session list, starting a session, printing a count sheet, approving a loss report
Administration Everything except your own schedule, attendance, leave, payslip, tasks and the activity log entries that carry your own order numbers
Shipping & Delivery The entire Shipping tab
The activity log The filter card, and every entry that is not tied to one of your own orders

Administrators only

Previewing the employee view

An administrator standing at the counter can flip the whole app to what an employee sees — so a customer looking over the counter cannot see margins, and so you can check what your staff actually get.

    1. Your name chip
    2. Control Center
    3. View as
    4. Employee

Or press F8. The key is remappable in Resources → Settings → Security.

  1. Every administrator-only screen refuses and disappears from the home grid, the drawer and the side dock. Administration renames itself My Work. Administrator-only notifications leave the inbox. Every money figure marked private frosts over.

Nothing is written. The mode lives on this browser tab only and is cleared when you sign out.

  2. Back to admin view, or F8 again.

Ending someone’s access

Three different tools, for three different problems:

Problem Tool
A phone left signed in at the counter Control Center → Signed-in devices → sign that row out
Someone left the company Administration → People → Deactivate
Someone should stop being an administrator Administration → People → change their role
